Samanta Lax is a Hydrogeologist who has conducted research on stream chemistry and aquifer recharge. After obtaining her Bachelor's degree in Applied Geography, she worked on several Geographical Information Systems (GIS) projects for the Geography-Geology Department at Illinois State University while working on her Master's degree.
Samanta obtained her M.S. in hydrogeology from Illinois State University in 2007. Her thesis focused on determining the relationship between road salt application and other sources of chloride and their impact on in-stream chemistry. Working in both rural and urban watersheds, her thesis work involved water-quality sampling and analysis, and the use of GIS to create a relationship between urbanization level and stream chloride concentrations.
Since being at Layne Hydro, Samanta has worked on modeling groundwater recharge, determining private well impact from withdrawals of high-production wells, and helped with climate change sensitivity analysis on regional water demand. Samanta also provides project support through GIS investigations, data collection, and data analysis.
